HOW GOOD AND HOW PLEASANT
"Hineh Ma Tov Uma Na Yim Shevet Achim Gam Ya Chad" is the Jewish way to say "How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity" (Psalm 133:1). King David of Israel, the author of this lovely Psalm, was Jewish, and The LORD directed him to write of the importance and benefit of every one getting along with each other. It is good! It is peaceful! It is pleasant!
ONE OF FIVE DAUGHTERS
Being one of five daughters and personally experiencing, at times, the lack of unity 'among the sisters' during my growing up years, I definitely can understand the beauty of trying to get along. This, in turn, led me to seek for a true and deeper unity within my very soul. My search for inner-shalom (peace) began at about the age of seventeen.
STATE OF NORTH DAKOTA
I grew up in the Midwest State of North Dakota, very near to Canada. The name of my birthplace is Kenmare, North Dakota. I was born on April 19, 1944. My growing up years (with my four sisters) took me to Washington, South Dakota, and then back to North Dakota. Finishing High School in Minot, North Dakota, I set out to find shalom (peace) and purpose for my life. This journey took me to Southern California. There, I met my husband Elias E. Hidalgo, who is truly a 'mensch', a wonderful person. As a Hebrew-Christian, he has been dedicated and faithful to the LORD GOD for over thirty-one years
I THANK THE LORD
I thank the LORD for his love and his patience. Especially for his faith life in The LORD, which has been a good example for my life, as well as for his wonderful companionship these many years.
TRIALS AND TESTS
Through many trials and tests in my life, the LORD in His mercy stretched forth His loving arms and by His marvelous grace "saved" me when I called upon Him to be my personal Saviour. The shalom that I had been searching for came into reality the very moment Y'shua (Jesus) came into my heart. This happened while I was attending a Billy Graham crusade in Anaheim, California in the year of 1969. I'll always remember that evening when at about 8:30 p.m. the invitational hymn "Just As I Am" began playing and through the Word of God, I realized that I needed to repent of all my sins and receive Y'shua (Jesus) as my Lord and Saviour.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
To GOD be the Glory -- I was "saved"! From that point in my life I began to understand the Jewishness of my new life. So much so, that my family thought that I had accepted the Jewish religion and became involved in a Jewish synagogue. In reality, my new life was being molded according to GOD's Word: "And unto the Jews I became as a Jew" (I Corinthians 9:20). Because of my love for the Judaeo-Christian principles found in The Word of God, the LORD has opened up many opportunities to share Y'shua (Jesus) with the Jewish people. How strange that my family didn't know (or want to know) that The Lord Jesus Christ was very much a Jewish man, and yet GOD. About fifteen years later, I had the privilege of leading both of my parents in prayer to a saving knowledge of Y'shua (Jesus). Blessed be the LORD GOD who faithfully hears us when we call upon Him.
THE GOOD NEWS
I didn't grow up in a religious home, yet I heard the Good News of salvation in Jesus at a very young age at Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. As I mentioned earlier, it was later in my young adult life that I came to the realization that I indeed needed to personally acknowledge my sins and recognize that Jesus was my Saviour and the Atonement for all of my sins. The willingness within my heart to serve the LORD came immediately after that. After a few years had passed I answered the call of the Lord to serve Him as a watch(woman) on the walls of Zion for the lost sheep of the House of Israel.
ISAIAH 42:6
The Scripture the LORD gave me is found in the book of Isaiah 42:6. "I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people (the Jewish people), for a light of the Gentiles". Although this portion of Isaiah is speaking about the Messiah, I also believe that His Word speaks to our hearts individually to accomplish His purposes and plans that He desires in us.
MISSION IN LIFE
Therefore, this Scripture made it clear to me that my purpose and mission in life for the LORD was, and is, to take the Gospel of Christ to the Jewish people first, and also to the Gentiles. Now at the age of almost 52, I want to tell you that for 26 years the LORD GOD has been faithful to what He has promised in His Word. I can testify that He has abundantly blessed me and that He has extended much tender mercy to me (just like He has promised to whomever will respond to His call).
THE LORD KEEPS HIS PROMISES
Often, we have had to be absent from our children in order to heed the call that the LORD has extended to us. Nevertheless, I want to share with you that the LORD keeps His promises and has been as "a wall of fire" around them. I might add that He is still watching over all of us with much loving care. What more can we desire as parents and grandparents. I believe the LORD is good and in charge of all areas of our lives, and I believe with all my heart that "...all things work together for good to them that love GOD, to them who are the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28).
IN A VERY UNIQUE WAY
In a very unique way, the LORD did bless my childhood in North Dakota, especially when I think of the freedom that I had growing up, having the privilege to attend various churches as they presented "Salvation" through JESUS.
I CAN SEE THE LORD
I can see The LORD has had His hand upon me and continues to care for me. As of 1995, during these past almost ten years, Minnesota has become my mission field for sharing the Good News of our Messiah "...to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile" (Romans 1:16).
It hasn't been easy, but the LORD's strength, love and most importantly, His Shalom (which I had longed for as a child), has been a present reality in my life wherever the LORD has taken me.
GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN WITH ME
My life as a servant of God has been difficult from a woman's perspective, but GOD has always been with me, and the LORD has been more than sufficient in supplying all that is necessary, and honestly, He has been to me "closer than a brother (or sister)" (Proverbs 18:24).
HOW BLESSED WE ARE
My husband is always telling me and reminding me how blessed we are in Christ Jesus our LORD! Truly, we are! He reminds me again and again, that all he needs is a cup of coffee in the morning with his eggs and toast, and a clean shirt and pants, and he's ready for the day's work at Shalom Scripture Studies, Inc., which involves holding three services per week, our own television ministry (now in thirteen states), home visitations, individual Bible study sessions, and various preaching engagements, as well as the distribution of many Holy Bibles, literature, and our book ministries.
AS A WOMAN
Well, you can imagine, as a woman I do need more than just a cup of coffee, eggs, a clean shirt and a pair of pants. A woman just naturally needs a little bit more. I want to share with you that the Almighty God, Whom I love and serve, has provided all of my needs again and again, and usually in a most miraculous way!
FULL-TIME/BY FAITH
Yes! My life with my husband as a full-time, "by-faith", servant of God continues to be a most blessed and wonderful experience.
As I mentioned, it's not easy at times; but I thank the LORD for His comfort, and the comfort my husband extends to me to "press on" with the call that I have, of loving and serving our Lord and Savior.
PLEASE REMEMBER
Please do remember my husband and me in your prayers, for the needs that arise and confront us daily as we minister before The LORD, to a sinful and dying world.
ANOTHER FAVORITE SCRIPTURE
I would like to share with you another favorite Scripture of mine which I have found to be true in my life. It is found in Isaiah 26:3.
"Thou wilt keep him (or her) in perfect peace (shalom, shalom), whose mind is stayed on thee: because he (or she) trusteth in thee."
Did you notice in the above verse that there is a double portion of shalom (peace) promised to you and to all that will keep their mind stayed on Him?
Therefore, let us together continue trusting in Him with all of our hearts, so that we will not lean upon our own understanding. In all our ways, we need to continously acknowledge Him. (See: Proverbs 3: 5-6).
The LORD bless you with an abundance of His shalom (peace), which I have found to be in my LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, my Messiah!
PEACE
