THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

1st Commandment

"Thou shalt have no other
gods before Me." (Ex. 20:3)

In The New Testament: "Thou shalt worship the
Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou
serve." (Matt. 4:10)

2nd Commandment

"Thou shalt not make unto
thee any graven image, (Ex. 20:4)

In The New Testament: "Neither be ye idolaters."
(1 Cor. 10:7)

3rd Commandment

"Thou shalt not take the
name of the LORD thy God in vain;" (Ex. 20:7)

In The New Testament: "Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name." (Matt. 6:9, Lk. 11:2)

4th Commandment

"Remember the Sabbath day,
to keep it holy," (Ex. 20:8-11)

In The New Testament: "For the Son of man is Lord
even of the sabbath day." (Matt. 12:8, Lk. 6:5)
"(Jesus) taught them on the sabbath days." (Lk 4:31)

5th Commandment

"Honor thy father and thy
mother:" (Ex. 20:12)

In The New Testament: "Honour thy father and thy
mother" (Matt, 19:19, Mk. 10:19, Lk.18:20)

6th Commandment

"Thou shalt not kill."
(Ex. 20:13)

In The New Testament: "Thou shalt not kill"
(Rom. 13:9)

7th Commandment

"Thou shalt not commit
adultery" (Ex. 20:14)

In The New Testament: "Thou shalt not commit
adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever
looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed
adultery with her already in his heart." (Matt 5:27, 28)

8th Commandment

"Thou shalt not steal."
(Ex. 20:15)

In The New Testament: "Thou shalt not steal"
(Matt. 19:18, Rom. 13:9)

9th Commandment

"Thou shalt not bear false
witness against thy neighbor." (Ex. 20:16)
In The New Testament:

"Thou shalt not bear false

10th Commandment

"Thou shalt not covet thy
neighbour's house," (Ex. 20:17)

In The New Testament: "What shall we say then? Is
the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin,
but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the
law had said, Thou shalt not covet." (Rom. 7:7)
